At Madverse, we support artists who use externally licensed beats and instrumentals in their music. To ensure your releases stay compliant and live on streaming platforms, it is important to understand what types of beat licenses Madverse accepts for distribution.
Please review the guidelines below before submitting a release that uses a licensed beat.
A limited license is a beat or instrumental license purchased from a producer - commonly through platforms like YouTube, BeatStars, Airbit, or similar - that permits use of the beat within defined terms.
Limited licenses typically come in two forms:
Madverse accepts date-based limited licenses only.
If your beat license is valid for a defined time period, you may distribute your release through Madverse for the duration of that license.
Madverse does not accept stream-based limited licenses.
Stream caps create unpredictable compliance risks that cannot be reliably monitored during distribution. Releases submitted under a stream-limited license will not be accepted.
1. Know Your License Expiry Date
Before submitting a release, confirm the exact expiry date of your beat license. Your license must be valid at the time of submission and must remain valid for a minimum of 2 years from your release date on Madverse. Licenses with shorter validity periods will not be accepted for distribution.
2. License Must Identify the Issuing Authority
Your beat license must clearly state the name of the licensor or issuing authority (the producer, production house, or platform issuing the license), along with a valid contact email address. Licenses without identifiable issuer details or verifiable contact information will not be accepted.
3. Renew Before It Expires
You are solely responsible for renewing or upgrading your license before it expires. Madverse does not track license expiry dates on your behalf. If your license expires while your release is live, you must renew it immediately to stay compliant.
4. Keep Proof of Purchase
Always retain a copy of your beat license agreement. You may be required to submit this in the event of a dispute or reinstatement request.
5. Ensure Commercial Distribution Rights
Your license must explicitly permit commercial distribution across digital streaming platforms. Licenses restricted to personal or non-commercial use are not valid for distribution through Madverse.
To maintain quality and trust across platforms, please note:
If Madverse receives an escalation from any DSP citing a license violation related to your release, we reserve the right to take down the release immediately and without prior notice.
Royalties associated with a removed release may be withheld pending review of the license violation. Madverse reserves the right to hold royalties until the matter is resolved, and in cases of confirmed non-compliance, withheld royalties may not be disbursed.
To reinstate a removed release, you must provide valid proof of a renewed or upgraded license. Reinstatement is subject to Madverse's review, and repeated violations may result in permanent account suspension.
Madverse is not liable for lost streams, revenue, or playlist placements resulting from a license-related takedown.
